DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking dependable and caring Teacher’s Aides to support before and after school programs for elementary school-aged children throughout Howard County. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with children and is looking to gain experience in childcare, education, recreation, or a related field.
Previous childcare experience is not required. We are looking for candidates who are reliable, patient, positive, and comfortable interacting with children in a group setting.
This position could be a great fit for college students, individuals interested in education or childcare, retirees, parents looking for part-time hours, or anyone looking for an entry-level opportunity working with children.
Morning, afternoon, and combined shift opportunities may be available.
Morning Shift: 6:45 AM to 9:15 AM Afternoon Shift: 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist Teachers and Directors with supervising children during before and after school programs
  • Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment
  • Assist with games, arts and crafts, recreational activities, homework time, and other planned activities
  • Help children during arrival, dismissal, transitions, and daily activities
  • Encourage positive behavior and respectful interactions among children
  • Assist with setting up and cleaning up program areas and activities
  • Follow established safety procedures and program guidelines
  • Communicate professionally with Teachers, Directors, other staff, children, and families
  • Provide additional support to program staff as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
  • No previous childcare experience required
  • Enjoys working with elementary school-aged children
  • Dependable and able to maintain consistent attendance
  • Patient, positive, and able to communicate effectively
  • Comfortable working in an active environment and participating in indoor and outdoor activities
  • Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team
  • Must be able to meet required background and pre-employment requirements
